Hey Y'all! I'm gonna make this one short cause it's almost 1am! but I am sooo excited! I'm leaving for the West Coast and visiting Radio up and down the California Coast! I'll be there from Monday Aug. 1 - 9.. I don't know all the stations yet, but I'll keep you guys posted :) 

One more super exciting thing about my Cali trip-  well for those of you who know me, it's a REALLY BIG deal when I get to see my Brother, Eric. He moved out to LA about 3 weeks before I moved to Nashville. That was in August 2008... I didn't see him for over 2 1/2 yrs! :( Not until Thanksgiving last year! We both promised to Never let it go that long again! Soooo with that said, I get to see Eric! (and his totally chill pooch, Marley- one of the sweetest Goldens EVER!)

Hey guys! How was everyone's weekend?? Mine was pretty awesome! Did some more listening to decide which song I want to release as the next single!! Took the day off yesterday and went grocery shopping- it was a much needed trip! I had nothing eatable left in the fridge! haha

I just returned from a quick radio run down to Florida and Alabama! It was a great trip! I got to see a few of my favorite radio people and I got to meet some new ones too! "Girl With A FIshing Rod" is such a fun song - the listeners down in Ocala, FL and in Tuscaloosa, AL are so supportive :) Thanks y'all! :) 

So, my roomie and I were so excited because we planned on having a roomie/ pool day today! We kept our fingers crossed it would not rain and when we got up this morning, the sun was shining!! :) We went down to the pool in our apartment complex.....CLOSED! I was SO bummed, as was Beth :(  We got back to our apartment and looked at prices for Nashville Shores... $30 bucks! yikes... considering it was already 3pm, we decided it wasn't worth the money...Beth then had a brilliant idea! Percy Priest Lake...Here we come! 

We stopped at Kroger's and got hot dogs, chips, goldfish, and hot dog buns...and off to the lake we went! As soon as we arrived at the lake, it was straight into the water with our pool floats! Then we grilled out. SO GOOD! Followed by some more lake time :) Then we came home and made dinner...now we are watching Mighty Ducks- D3 :) It's been a great Monday for us and I hope it has been for you too!

WOW! I'm so thrilled to share this news with you guys! So about 4 days ago, I launched my Artist Fan Page on Facebook, KELLY PARKES MUSIC. I set a goal to reach 200 fans by tonight (Friday 7/15). I'm stoked to announce that YOU, My AWESOME fans, didn't let me down :) We reached over 100 on the first day, and by this afternoon, we reached the goal of 200! I'll post tomorrow what the total came to at the end of today!) 

So, I told everyone that if we reached the goal of getting 200 "Like"s in just 4 days, that I would randomly select 3 winners. Hey everyone!!! I hope y'all had a fantastic weekend and that your week is off to a great start! I got back to Nashville EARLY Saturday morning and took a cab from the airport back to my apartment. To my surprise, I was LOCKED OUT! Oh geeeeze! So The top deadbolt can only be locked and unlocked from the inside, and we have a chain on our door...and my roomie didn't know I was going to be home so early..so the door was all locked up and chained! My roomie is a heavy sleeper (you could bang pots and pans and she wouldn't wake up right away!). I was kicking the door and the wall by her room...nothing. I called and texted her about 10 times! Then I saw a friend's car in the parking lot and had to find their number! I called my buddy Chelsea, and she gave me the number I needed.. so I called my friend and said "dude! are you in my apartment!" (after calling 3 times!) Finally, 20 minutes later, I got in! haha... Then I slept for a while...I had only gotten about 2 hours a night for the last 3 nights...clearly, I was exhausted! 

Sunday night, I went to Chelsea's show at Limelight. She rocked it! We were there from 5pm-1am.. there were lots of groups, but only 2 that could carry a tune! haha... when we got back to the apartment, a group of us played Apples-to-Apples :) Only one of the funniest, illogical games ever! It was a good night... finally went to bed around 6am... ergo, Monday called for a bit more sleep! 

Anyway, I've been getting tons and tons of emails with song submissions! It's like opening Christmas presents! I'm currently looking for my next single and have been handed songs by some extremely talented writers! I can't wait to narrow it down even further tomorrow :) I don't know about you guys, but I'm STOKED to find my next single!! :) 

I'll let ya know how it goes tomorrow! Hopefully I'll be a lil closer to finding the best song!

Hey everyone! I hope y'all are having a great week! I know I sure am :)  Since switching hotels from downtown NYC to Queens, I've been on the move quite a bit! 

On Tuesday, Mike Borchetta (of Lofton Creek Records) and I drove from NY to Hartford, CT to go to lunch with a radio music director. Her name is Cory and let me tell you, SHE'S AWESOME! We hit it off instantly and talked about everything from music to horses to fishing! Not to mention, the restaurant she picked had awesome food! - The NYPD or The New York Pickle Deli! haha

After Mike and I drove back, he, Martha, and I ate dinner at the hotel's lounge... pretty good food! I wanted to get to sleep early but all the buzzing about the Casey Anthony "Not Guilty" Verdict kept me up watching the news... to be honest, I'm already sick of hearing about it... I hate the outcome of the trial. I'm sad for baby Caylee. But the fact of the matter is there is nothing any of us can do about it, so I'm not going to waste my energy...no matter how disgusted I am that she walked on a murder charge! (clearly I'm struggling letting this go)... :(  I just wanted Justice for that sweet child.

Onto a brighter subject, I had a big radio show this morning in Long Island :) It was for the staff and loyal listeners of My Country 96.1 fm. What a great group of people! Before the show, the owner of the station, and a couple employees (including Phathead- a killer disc jokey), and my team of myself, Mike & Martha Borchetta, and my guitar player, Jason, went to breakfast at a diner down the street... When we got back, the show began! It was KILLER! Thank you to ALL who came and supported me :) It means so much to have fans like you guys! :) 

Afterward, It was a quick drive back to the hotel, and a relaxing afternoon and dinner. Still watching the news- with exclusive interviews from a juror and Casey Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez- I decided to blog and fill ya in! But now I'm thinkin it's time for bed! I'm soooo excited for tomorrow- one of Mike & Martha's two yr old filly is running in her first race tomorrow! She will be running in the 3rd race, #4, at Belmont Park. Her name is Tap A Bay Yankee.  I like to call her Princess. She's a beautiful grey...almost metallic! She is 100% muscle and has filled out so nicely... I'm putting my money on her tomorrow! I hope she does well... it's nerve racking though! I really just want her to leave the gate smoothly and cross the finish line...being her first race, accomplishing that is a big deal! So wish us all luck! :)

I'm gonna go watch a 'happy' movie instead of the depressing news! HA!

Hey guys! 

I'm sitting in my hotel room just thinking about how the past few days flew by so quickly! I rode up to NYC via Amtrak on Saturday morning with my parents and stayed in Times Square for a couple of nights! Saturday afternoon, we walked around a bit, took a carriage ride the Central Park (AWESOME), and had a killer bite to eat at Rue 57-- I had mini Kobe beef burgers with Pomme Fritz (fancy word for overpriced fries, haha) and some INCREDIBLY Yummy Creme Brulee! We called it an early night since I'd been traveling 2 days straight on about 4 hours of sleep! So we watched some movies- Soul Surfer...which was SO inspirational, and Just Go With It...  your typical Adam Sandler movie, rather comedic!

 Then yesterday, mom and dad let me sleep in a bit then we got lunch followed by a tour of the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum...SO COOL!  We were meeting my Record Label execs for dinner but still had a few hours to kill, so we went to see Pirates of the Caribbean; On Stranger Tides... I'd say it's the 2nd best of the 4 Pirates movies! We topped off the night with a great dinner at Bobby Van's Grill... best side dish of the year for their baked Mac & Cheese!... and BEST dessert of the century (besides Creme Brulee) with the 20 layer Crepe Cake (crepes & french butter cream layers).

I woke up this morning and had breakfast with mom and dad, packed up my things, and headed off towards Belmont Park to watch a few horse races.. I called the winner, #3, Break Up The Game, before the race started, but sadly hadn't placed any bets :( oh well... it was still a fun afternoon. Just got back from dinner with Mike & Martha (from the label) and am settled into my hotel/ home for the next 4 days!  

I'll fill ya in on what goes down tomorrow!

Phew! I'm finally relaxing! Ok so here's what's been going on this week...

So I'm really bummed- on Monday I made the tough decision to return my pretty iPad2 complete with green smart cover...NOT COMPLETE WITH ADOBE FLASH! I had to tell apple I couldn't keep the iPad2 because I needed it for business- like updating my website (which uses Flash to run), and I couldn't do it! I could view the site but editing it was impossible :( so sad... cause it was a fun toy! I think I will eventually get the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. It's AWESOME!

Tuesday was a particularly long day as well- I went to The Green Hills area to get some dresses hemmed, followed by a desperate attempt to find some jeans and jean shorts at The Mall of Green Hills- which we all know you have to sell your kidneys in order to buy anything at that mall- I found an awesome pair of shorts ... but for $250---chyeah right! Followed by a lonesome dinner at the Cheesecake Factory- I may have dined alone, but I dined in deliciousness! Fried Mac & Cheese, Chicken Croquettes. and Strawberry Cheesecake! YUM, Finally had a 7pm hair appt. and was there til 11pm! Long day... done.

Then on Wednesday, I was particularly excited to go see a show. They are a duo and go by the name Jill&Kate. They are Kelly Clarkson's bgv's! I went with Chelsea and Beth followed by a trip to Sweet CeCe's! YUM! But I'm also happy to report I was at Cool Spring's Galleria yet again attempting my desperate search for jeans....BINGO! WET SEAL. My ONE STOP JEAN SHOP! haha... SUCCESS!

Thursday finally made its way up and I started bright and early getting my nails done at 8am..stopped back home to pick up the mail (my momma sent me my birth certificate) which I needed to FINALLY go get my TN driver license! I WAS AT THE DMV FOR 4 1/2 HOURS! shoot me. HA! Then I ate breakfast for dinner at Cracker Barrel.... I had to kill some time before meeting my manager downtown and really didn't feel like going all the way home just to leave again as soon as I got there.. So I met Alex downtown to get a bunch of kp t-shirts and cd's to bring home with me... Finally got home around 8pm and was up til 1am PACKING- one of my least favorite things to do! Then it was lights out! I was only running on about 4 hours of sleep from wednesday night!

Friday- Woke up at 3am (yes I only got 2 hours of sleep) to get ready to fly home. The cab picked me up at 5am and dropped me at the Nashville Airport! I was finally on my way home! I couldnt wait to fall asleep on the plane!- but of course I couldn't :( I had a layover in Chicago- only supposed to be an hour- turned into 4...not cool... but finally after an even longer day than yesterday, I found my momma at the baggage claim and she brought me home to my daddy and puppy! It's so nice to be here for a night- but it's off to NYC in the morning for more radio tours~ 

well it's time for a nice family dinner :)
